About Angina

Angina or angina pectoris is not a rare disease, in modern times. Living with Angina implies knowing as much as possible about Angina, and about treating the disease with respect.Angina is one of the many Coronary Artery Diseases or CADs that have become very common in modern times. Nowadays, people do not exercise very frequently, their lives are too hectic and the stress levels have gone up to shocking extremes. Nowadays, people are no longer in a position to spend enough time in the kitchen, to prepare good healthy food.

The option is to eat packaged food or the food that is offered by the fast food joints that have sprung up at almost every corner of the cities. The negative effect is that, usually, the fast foods that are available are high on oils and fats. Olis and fats are a rich source of cholesterol. The result of regular consumption of high levels of oily and fatty foods is that the body cannot dispose of the excess levels of fat and cholesterol. The fat starts getting deposited in the cells of the body. The excess levels of cholesterol get deposited in the inner linings of the blood vessels. A thick deposit of cholesterol forms in the inner linings of the blood vessels, and this is called plaque. Due to this deposition, the blood vessels lose their elasticity. The walls of the blood vessels gradually become harder. Due to this hardening of the blood vessels, the flow of blood is obstructed. Blood cannot flow easily through the blood vessels. This is called atherosclerosis, or blockage of the arteries.

As a consequence of this entire chain of events, the coronary blood vessels are unable to supply the required amount of blood to the muscles of the heart. So, the heart cannot get the actual amount of oxygen that it needs. This causes angina pains. If you are concerned about angina then you should know that angina is a feeling of uneasiness in the chest, and it may even be accompanied by bouts of pain in the chest. The only positive point about angina is that it is not a heart attack, but one of the warning signs of serious heart ailments. Angina can be of two basic types, stable angina and unstable angina. Unstable angina can have serious consequences.

It may be a good idea, to consult a doctor whenever you suffer from chest pains. Regular bouts of light exercising or going for walks may be useful, too. However, never over exert yourself. In case you are under medication, please keep your angina medication at hand, always.
