Coronary heart disease |

|
All over the world, millions and millions of men and women fall victim to a very grave disease, known as Coronary heart disease. Coronary heart disease is also known as Coronary artery disease, and its treatment falls under the larger category of Treatments of Angina. The disease is very much related to the general well being of the ailing individual. Coronary heart disease occurs by the building up of plaque or plak in the interior part of the coronary arteries.

The blocking of these arteries result in the blocking up of the blood which is rich with oxygen, and thus, perform a very vital function. The Plaque comprises fat, calcium, cholesterol (ko-LES-ter-ol), and cretain other materials that are found in the blood. The condition of this building up of Plaque is known as atherosclerosis (ATH-er-o-skler-O-sis). A person who is a victim to Coronary heart disease has his coronary arteries damaged by certain factors. The inside layers of the arteries are primarily damaged by the factors that are the root causes of Coronary heart disease. The significant factors behind this grave disease are Smoking, high levels of cholesterol and fats in the patient's blood, increased blood pressure, diabetes or high quantity of sugar in the patient's blood. As the damage starts, an individual's body initiates the process of healing, and as a result, the excess tissues of fats release certain compounds that fasten this process of healing. Plaque occurs due to this healing process and as a consequence, the coronary arteries are more often than not damaged. With the passing of time, there might be an occurrence of a crack in the plaque. At the regions of the cracks, blood cells by the name of platelets form a clump and that gives rise to blood clotting. The angina is worsened as the arteries are narrowed by the clotting of the blood. This phenomenon leads to a heart attack as the passage of the oxygen enriched blood is blocked. This disease is becoming pretty common and a number of people are falling victim to this disease. The initiation process of the building up of Plaque often starts from the period of childhood. As an individual grows up, the plaque formation can entirely block or narrow some of the coronary arteries of the individual. The heart muscle are deprived from receiving the oxygen enriched blood, brought by these coronary arteries.
Coronary heart disease can be treated by going through proper medical advice and treatment. The treatment may comprise changes of lifestyle, medication, etc. The objectives of the treatment is to relieve the patients of the various symptoms of the disease, reducing the factors of risk, lower the possibility of the formation of blood clotting and widen the passage of the coronary arteries by removing the risk of blood clotting. The treatment include remedial measures such as quitting of smoking, loosing weight, reduction of stress, following a healthy diet and lifestyle. This might help in avoiding the disease to quite an extent.
